Candidates are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) — a points-based scoring system. The highest-scoring candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR during regular draws.

Step-by-Step: Canada PR from UAE

1

Take IELTS (or CELPIP)

Book the IELTS General Training exam. Aim for CLB 9+ (≈ 7.0 in each of Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) to maximize CRS points. CELPIP is an alternative if you prefer computer-based testing.

2

Get your Education Credential Assessment (ECA)

Have your degree/diploma assessed by a IRCC-designated organization (WES, ICAS, etc.). This proves your foreign credential equals Canadian standards. Takes 4–8 weeks — do this early.

3

Identify your NOC TEER code

Find your job occupation in Canada's National Occupation Classification (NOC). TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations are eligible for Express Entry. Common UAE professions: Software Engineer (21232), Financial Analyst (11101), Civil Engineer (21300).

4

Create your Express Entry Profile

Submit your profile on the IRCC website with your ECA, IELTS scores, and work history. You'll receive your CRS score and enter the pool of candidates.

5

Apply to Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)

While waiting in the pool, apply to provinces aligned with your occupation. A PNP nomination adds +600 CRS points — virtually guaranteeing an ITA. Ontario (OINP), BC (BC PNP), and Alberta (AINP) are popular for UAE professionals.

6

Receive ITA and submit full application

When you receive an Invitation to Apply, you have 60 days to compile and submit your complete PR application including police clearance certificates, medicals, and all supporting documents.

7

Wait for IRCC decision

Express Entry applications are processed in ~6 months. You'll receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and a PR visa. Land in Canada before the visa expires to activate your PR status.

How UAE Experience Helps Your CRS

Working in the UAE gives you foreign work experience worth up to 50 CRS points (for 3+ years, NOC TEER 0/1/2/3). When combined with a strong IELTS score (CLB 7+), you also unlock the Skill Transferability bonus for another 50 points.

Example scenario: A 28-year-old software engineer with a Bachelor's degree, 3 years UAE experience, and IELTS CLB 9 would score approximately:

✅ Pro tip: If your score is below 490, apply to a Provincial Nominee Program. The +600 PNP bonus makes your effective score 1,100+ which always gets an ITA.
